Studs & Threaded Plugs FAQs
Will the Stud hold the cable's maximum load?
Yes, after swaging the Stud holds the cable's maximum load. Studs, originally designed for the military, are made to withstand 100% capacity of the cable's strength assuming the stud is swaged correctly with proper tooling in a controlled environment.
Will the Threaded Plug hold the cable's maximum load?
No, the Threaded Plug does not hold the cable's maximum load after swaging. The Threaded Plug causes approximately one-third of the cable's strength capacity to decrease once swaged.
Note: Pull testing can measure the amount of strength capacity loss. Pull testing is an inhouse service that Lexco can provide.
