Cable laid wire rope should never be used at breaking strength and a minimum 10:1 safety factor is recommended for all critical or overhead applications. Consult a wire rope rigging professional before use with any overhead lifting. End fittings may not hold to 100% of strength efficiency so a safety factor such as 5:1 should be divided into the assembly actual strength and a pull test is recommended for quality assurance on cable laid wire rope.
