A lot goes into creating your assembly order to ensure it works as expected and is of the quality and excellence you expect. The moment our front office receives your order, our teams get to work, dedicated to meeting your expectations and exceeding them whenever possible.
After an initial review, our front office passes your order to our Engineering Department, where your assembly is drafted in SolidWorks to create the shop drawing. The shop drawing is the schematic for your assembly, containing processing and routing information, special notes, and requirements such as the parts list, bill of materials, measurements, certifications, and additional specifications. Your shop drawing is then paired with an inspection sheet and moved forward to our Production Department. To provide accountability and ensure that your assembly meets your exact requirements, specifications, and expectations, only our Quality Control Department will ever record data on your assembly’s inspection sheet. We also provide complete traceability in all processes using lot numbers for documentation in accordance with our quality manual.
Having received your shop drawing, our Production Department then makes a first article that is passed to our Quality Control Department for its initial inspection. When required for the first article inspection (FAI) in the aerospace and defense industries, Lexco® follows AS9102 standards to verify all requirements have been met. To ensure consistency in manufacturing and quality requirements, Upon request, Lexco® adheres to PPAP (Production Part Approval Process). A procedure used in industrial and automotive manufacturing, PPAP provides evidence that the engineering design record and specification requirements have been clearly understood and demonstrate manufacturing consistency throughout the production run of your assembly. Should you require either AS9102 or PPAP, you can inform one of Lexco’s team members during the RFQ process.
During the first article inspection, your assembly and its components, materials, measurements, certifications, and specifications are checked to ensure they meet all required standards and match the information detailed in your quote and assembly drawing.
Once your first article assembly passes the initial inspection, production on your entire order then proceeds. Additional members of our Quality Control Department will perform regular, periodic inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other specialized equipment throughout the manufacturing process. To ensure continued excellence and consistency, the inspector performing quality checks during the production of your entire order will always be a different inspector than the one responsible for the initial quality check on your order’s first article.
After the last assembly is produced, your order moves to a third and final quality control inspector. This inspection is the final step in your assembly’s production chain. Once the Quality Control Department gives its third, independently verified approval, your order moves to our packing and shipping department and on to its intended destination.

As you use your Lexco® assembly out in the field, our team remains available to work with you in partnership, assisting in making adjustments and revisions to your assembly orders as necessary to ensure you always receive the best product and experience.
